Antares bush lodge Grietjie

In the Grietjie Private Nature reserve – off the road between Phalaborwa and Hoedspruit. Forms part of the greater Kruger National Park.

Access

Can be accessed from the Hoedspruit or the Phalaborwa side. We typically access via Phalaborwa side

Once at the lodge you do not self- drive but do game drives with the lodge vehicle and the owner. The game drive (1 x per day included) have been very enjoyable and we have seen a lot – including a lion kill in this reserve. They may not drive off road and are limited in the routes they are allowed to traverse in the park but this did not prevent us seeing a lot

Accommodation

The lodge is a self-catering facility – one hires the whole lodge. It has 4 en-suite bedrooms which is a fantastic option for a group of friends or as we did once - a group with a photographer host. There is a swimming pool for the friends who are not photographers and a boma for the evenings. The quality of accommodation and service is excellent

The Umgede hide is a few meters from the house and is available to the occupants on a 24/7 basis. You can sleep there should you wish. Many animals can be viewed and photographed at eye level and you can also do Astrophotography from the hide when the moon is right

The property also has a viewing deck where you can also view the hornbills feeding their chicks really close. Very special
