Mokala

Mokala

In the Northern Cape - Approx. 60 km from Kimberley

 Access

Very easy access on main national roads. A 4x 4 is not required but vehicle with high clearance is recommended in the park itself as the internal roads are quite challenging after rains especially

Accommodation

This is a Sanparks reserve. A variety of accommodation is available – camping / chalets and tree houses and there is a bird hide at Stofdam dam where one can book to overnight there

We stayed at Metsweding tree house – solar and gas powered and at Mosu lodge – both of which were comfortable

Booking

Sanparks website

Pensioners discounts are available at certain camps and during certain periods Note you can only use the call Centre to obtain these – not the online reservations

Photo opportunities

Not a Big 5 reserve – well stocked with other game. You may see Sable and Roan antelopes if you are lucky

Plenty of birdlife with some bird hides available

Landscapes are beautiful.

Highlights

Landscapes, birds and general mammals. We enjoyed many opportunities to photograph golden orb web spiders. You may see Sable and Roan if you are lucky. During our stay many of the internal roads were closed due to heavy flooding. It is one of our must do’s to return
