Augrabies national park

Augrabies national park

In the Northern Cape – approximately 125 km from Upington

Access

Off the N14 – at Kakamas - turn off onto the R359 – although this road is tarred – it had quite a few potholes so care needs to be taken if driving a low sedan car

Accommodation

All the cottages at the main camp are spotless and comfortable.

We also stayed in the Gorge cottage which is approximately 10km from the main camp and overlooks the gorge. A truly special experience. The ablutions for Gorge cottage are approximately 30meteres away from the cottage. There is a chemical toilet in the cottage for emergencies. There is a gas stove – no electricity – uses solar

Booking

Directly with San Parks website

May qualify for pensioners discount – Gorge cottage is difficult to get a booking so be sure to book well in advance if you want to experience this. It is a viewing deck on top by day with the accommodation below and right on the edge of the gorge

Photo opportunities

Landscapes, stars, flowers, birds – including the Verreauxs (black) eagle who nest in the gorge and mammals
